Newbie & Distillery Beat – River Annan The official site for the Newbie Timeshare Beat on the River Annan.
The Newbie beat is the first beat above the tide where the River Annan meets the Solway Firth, and runs from Annan town bridge to Rabbit Island, two miles approx upstream.
The Newbie Beat is a much sought after and productive fishery of about 2 miles, mostly double bank, and being just above the tide and at times in part tide affected, can produce fresh fish in even the lowest of waters. With a well maintained river and banks, and a large heated hut with Tea making, Microwave, Oven, Kettle, Hot and Cold water, Rodroom and Toilet facilities, this is a must for the serious salmon and sea trout angler alike. Just 7 miles from the Scottish border and the M74, it is readily accessible to most centres of population, with London just over 4 hours away.
Newbie and Distillery Fishing’s on the River Annan, was timeshared in the mid 1980’s and is divided into 3 beats, split over 10 rods, the rods are split into three groups each group fishing the beats in rotation and changing beats at lunchtime, for the 36 weeks of the fishing season, giving 360 rod weeks in all. Some owners hold multiple rod weeks, giving a total of individual owners of around 125 at this time.
If you would like to avail yourself of the exceptional facilities and fishing here on the Newbie and Distillery beat please visit the “Available Rods” Section and select some dates you would like to fish.
